SB2 - Anthropogenic climate change

Global warming and climate change are terms used to describe the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system and its related effects. Multiple lines of scientific evidence show that the climate system is warming, and many of the observed changes since the 1950s are unprecedented over tens to thousands of years.

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report concluded that "It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century."

Multiple efforts are taking place to try to limit and reverse the human emission of greenhouse gases, such as the transition to renewable energy, the transition to electric transport, and technological innovation in packaging, design and architecture to make more sustainable industry, products and services.

Design has proved highly influential in many efforts to limit human-caused emissions, and to encourage the transition to more sustainable alternatives. Tesla is a great example of using design and innovation to change perceptions of what sustainable can be, and to catalyse the advent of it.
