The use of colour to comfort the user

Green, yellow and red are seen in many of the interfaces we use daily to signify all is good (green), things aren't too good (yellow), and things are bad (red). They extend to pedestrian crossing lights, traffic lights, warning icons, etc., and this omnipotence has give them deep connotations. In traffic lights they are usually used to signify stop (red), proceed slowly (yellow) and proceed (green).

Here, the use of red shifts the hierarchy towards the message and symbolises that the system is encountering a delay

Black or green could be used to signify that the journey is going as planned. Green has the advantage of comforting the user due to its intrinsic connotations. Phrases like "All systems nominal" give an exciting and futuristic tone of voice.
