The use of illustration in user interfaces
Illustrations can be used to great effect in user interfaces. They can add visually appealing emphasis to subject matter that traditionally wouldn't be interesting, and can help summarise information in an illustrative rather than a written form. Their suitability is arguably limited because an over-use could be intrusive and unnecessary, but when they're suitable they help to create a positive, calming, exciting and overall more interesting experience.
